After finding out that we had to create a digipak for our artists album, I decided to research into already existing digipaks that have been released by popular artists with a similar genre to Katy Perry so that we can get inspiration and ideas for our digipak.
The first artist that I have found who has used a digipak to release her album, is the very well known artist, Rihanna. She used the digipak to release her album 'Loud', creating a very bright and eye catching album which is packed with images of Rihanna and information about her songs, along with lyrics so her fans can sing along.
The cover contains a extreme close up or Rihanna's face while she is looking down, so you can't see her eyes, only her eyelids. She also has bright, eye catching hair which is then matched with the same colour lipstick. Her face is then framed with a silver outline which goes around the outside of the digipak cover, this is also9matched with the same colour writing for the album title and artist's name. Showing a theme of matching colours, which helps it to stand out on the shelves.
The inside of the digipak has one long image set across three of the inside panels, the image is of Rihanna lying in a bed of roses, roses that match the colour of her hair and lipstick. This medium shot of Rihanna lying down, also gives us a little sight of what she is wearing, a dress that could easily be looked at as a wedding dress. Creating a lonely bride theme with the dress and the flowers.
The actual CD that is inside of the digipak is also related to all of the images as it has a picture of a rose on it. Although I noticed that the rose isn't red like all of the others, but a pale pink to match Rihanna's dress.
This is a digipak for Eminem's latest album, this is the most recent digipak of all three that I have analysed, as it was only released at the end of 2013.
The front cover of this album is a photograph of the house that Eminem grew up in as a child, it also has a black frame around the image, which doubles up as one of the panels for the digipak. The dark colours of the front cover of the album reflect the dark moods and thoughts of some of the rapper's songs and lyrics, based mainly on his childhood.
The front cover also includes a 'parental advisory' sticker, due to explicit content.
